January 15, 2013 - Access Copyright Foundation Awards $115,000 in Events Grants

January 15, 2013 – The Access Copyright Foundation is pleased to announce the grantees of the 2012 Access Copyright Foundation Events Grants.  Eighteen organizations have been awarded grants by the Foundation on the basis of peer adjudication.

The Access Copyright Foundation Events Grants Program promotes the development and public appreciation of Canadian publishing, and literary and visual arts. Events grants provide funding to organizations and artists groups in order to showcase publishable works to the public or to host professional development events for writers, visual artists, publishers and related arts professionals.  Events must celebrate and present Canadian content in a public context, or provide opportunities for learning, career advancement or creative discourse in publishing, writing or visual arts.

“Organizations and groups play a vital role in our creative communities,” says Michael O’Reilly, Chairperson of the Access Copyright Foundation. “We at the Foundation are extremely pleased to extend our support to these groups.

The Access Copyright Foundation Grants Program and juries are administered by the Saskatchewan Arts Board.  The 2012 events grantees were selected by a jury composed of author Charlene Diehl (who is also director THIN AIR Winnipeg International Writers Festival), author Trevor Ferguson (a.k.a. John Farrow) and Cynthia Good who is director of the Creative Book Publishing Program at Humber College.   The Arts Board is now accepting applications for the 2013 Professional Development Program and the deadline is April 1, 2013.

The Access Copyright Foundation was created to promote and support Canadian culture by providing grants to encourage the development and dissemination of publishable Canadian works.   The Foundation provides grants to publishers, individual creators and publishing, writing and visual arts organizations through Research Grants, Professional Development Grants, and Events Grants.
